Head of household
Duke Gabriel is a 14th century English knight. He followed Edward III across the Channel to Calais when he was a much younger man and saw combat that would change the face of Europe. Of course as a medieval knight the concepts of “rising middle class” and “transition from cashless to cash-based economy” and “professional troops & technology overcoming the feudal stampede” are completely foreign to him, but what he saw in combat at Calais bothers him for reasons he can’t really describe, despite the correct side winning.
He returned with to the continent with Edward of Woodstock years later and saw combat at Poitiers, which restored some of his faith in the natural order of things: the English wrecking the inferior French, the French pretender to the throne captured, and so on. A truce having been concluded, he returned to England shortly after the Prince of Wales and settled back upon his estates, but he has heard rumors of the riches awaiting from despoiling the vulnerable French…..
Gabriel enjoys heavy combat and rapier play and is keenly interested in developing cut and thrust combat and all its implications for developing SCA combat. He also enjoys tailoring, has a passing interest in woodworking, and very much wishes to expand historic inspiration out of the A&S arena and into SCA culture at large.
